Lost Planet 3 detailed, out 2013
Uncover the truths of the colonial history of E.D.N III.
Information is pouring from Capcom’s Captivate embargo-lift, and one of the major announcements coming from it is Lost Planet 3.
The action-shooter will be developed by Spark Unlimited, the developers behind the abysmal Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. It will be out “early” next year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Lost Planet 3 will introduce a new character called Jim, who takes up a risky but lucrative contract on E.D.N III. Joining the Neo-Venus Construction project to colonize the planet, Jim “braves the risk of the treacherous environment and threat of the indigenous Akrid” to find a natural source of Thermal Energy to help speed up the project, cut a huge pay-roll for himself and get off the planet quickly. Of course, such plans are only good on paper and are quickly rejected for the sake of story and loud explosive action sequences.
Capcom promises to take the series “back to its roots” by delivering a “dynamic battlefield” that’s evilishly dangerous with “an ever changing climate that will affect the way” we play the game.
Jim will have a utility rig (aka mech) at his disposal with an assortment of tools to choose from. Players will control the rig from a first-person perspective, unlike previous games, while the on-foot gunplay will be the typical third-person experience.
The game will also have a “full set of multiplayer modes”, however Capcom hasn’t dusted off the snow from them yet.
