Resident Evil 6 has a new release date
Capcom to release the game a month early.
Previously scheduled for a November 20th release, Capcom confirmed during its Captivate event last week that its upcoming survival-horror shooter, Resident Evil 6, will release a month early, on October 2nd. The game will first release for the Xbox 360 and PS3, with a PC version to follow “at a later date.”
A WiiU version for the game seems unlikely at the moment with producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi telling IGN that the development is currently focused on the aforementioned platforms only.
“Unfortunately, RE6 will not be available at this time on the Wii U,” Kobayashi said. “Right now we’re concentrating on the PlayStation 3 version, 360 version and the PC version of the game.”
The Captivate event also brought a host of new details about the multiplayer of the game. Resident Evil 6 will once again feature the cooperative multiplayer including both online and split-screen play. Players will be able to drop in-and-out without being forced to start from checkpoints or at the beginning of a chapter. The Mercenaries mode will be included as well and will “available” right from the start.
