Intel Extreme Masters

At the GITEX Shopper exhibition in Dubai, taking place from 17th to 24th of October 2009, the Electronic Sports League will host its most prestigious tournament, the Intel Extreme Masters.

At this tournament, the world’s best Counter-Strike 1.6 teams and Quake Live players will compete for a total prize purse of $31,500 ($25,000 for CS 1.6, $6,500 for Quake Live). The winners will also be awarded a spot in the World Championship held in Germany in March, where another $120,000 will be awarded to the world’s finest Counter-Strike and QuakeLive players.

It is still possible to sign up for the Quake Live Pro/Amateur Challenge (23rd and 24th of October). There will be one cup per day where up to 8 participants play in a single elimination tournament. You will find the news where players can apply for this tournament here:

The winners will be awarded high-quality gaming gear provided by Roccat.

Two local Counter-Strike 1.6 qualifiers will also take place (Saturday, 17th and Sunday, 18th, 11h-15h30). The winner of each qualifier will receive a slot in the Global Challenge Dubai and battle it out with the world’s elite Counter-Strike gamers such as SK Gaming, fnatic or mousesports.
