Alan Wake sales reach 2 million, dev hints at more games
Studio boasts the title has become a “cult classic”.
Alan Wake have been available to the PC crowd since last month, and here’s Finnish developer Remedy Entertainment boasting that sales for its psychological thriller have succeeded the two million mark. Of course, that is the sum of both released versions – Xbox 360 and PC.
Oskari Häkkinen is apparently pleased in what it seems Alan Wake’s current gritty presence in the industry, going all the way to call the IP as a “cult classic.” Rather bold words indeed but Alan Wake proved being an engaging experience and frankly, it shouldn’t be overlooked as it does have the potential of spawning an iconic franchise.
“We’ve moved over two million copies – that’s including PC,” Häkkinen told CVG. “So after a slow start it’s turning into something really positive. It’s definitely had legs. I think narrative experiences just have a tendency for that.”
Can we say the PC version helped save the game? Regardless of that, the Max Payne team assured last month that they’re not done with Alan Wake, hinting at the possibility of a sequel to the original game.
