Battlefield 3 ‘Close Quarters’ DLC trailer shows off tight infantry battles
Debut footage shows a change in pace from the core BF formula.
In case you didn’t know, Close Quarters is the upcoming expansion pack for Battlefield 3. It will add four new maps that focus on infantry. DICE seems ready to show off the first official gameplay footage from one of the maps dubbed ‘Ziba Tower’.
“The clue for the theme in Close Quarters is in the title: The battlefield moves indoors, and we’re bringing HD Destruction!” said DICE. “While the squad functionality and gunplay will feel instantly recognizable for any Battlefield player, moving the battle to tight maps means it’s instant action and even more frantic than normal.”
The footage has all sort of frantic tight infantry warzones taking place; this sees a rather significant change in pace from traditional Battlefield experiences – which typically had the focus of portraying battles in urban and huge environments crammed with vehicles and jets.
DICE says Close Quarters will bring more weapons, dog tags, persistence and destruction. The expansion pack is scheduled for release in June, with PS3 players having the advantage to grab it a week earlier than Xbox and PC players. The price will likely be in line with Back to Karkand: $15/1200MS Points.
