5 Playstation Franchises We Would Love to See Brought Back
Jak and Daxter
With the HD remake coming up later this month (7th in the US but 22nd in EU) this idea doesn’t seem to far from being realistic. There are various rumors going around that a new Jak and Daxter might be in the works for the PS3 or even the PS4. Naughty Dog themselves spoke out recently saying that they had thoughts of revisiting the franchise but decided to go with working on a brand new IP (The Last of Us). Based on what happened with Sly Cooper, it’s not unlikely that the idea of a brand new Jak and Daxter game is being evaluated by Sony. I don’t think the remake will be handled internally by Naughty Dog though and will probably be given to another Sony owned Studio to work on it with some direction from Naughty Dog.
Dark Cloud I & II both came out on the Playstation 2 back in 2001 and 2003 respectively. They are both action-RPGS that were generally well received by critics and gamers alike. While the first Dark Cloud was a huge success, Dark Cloud II is where the franchise really began to shine. The game improved upon the time-travelling concept of the first game and introduced tons of gameplay additions. It would be great for Sony to work with developers Level-5 again and make a brand new Dark Cloud game for current-gen or next generation consoles. Dark Cloud was quite an interesting and unique title that can bring a different JRPG experience to the Playstation brand again.
The Syphon Filter franchise is one that a lot of gamers wanted to see come back. The series is a 3rd person shooter that revolved around biochemical warfare. The series was a huge success, especially on the original Playstation as it spawned a ton of fans for the franchise. Syphon Filter has been rumored to make a return to the PS3 recently and it would be a great addition to the Playstation family. Sony Bend, the developers behind the franchise, recently finished off Uncharted: Golden Abyss and could possibly be already working on the title.
