Electronic Arts has removed iOS game Battlefield: Aftershock after receiving disappointing reviews from users over the game’s various issues.

Aftershock was quietly released earlier in the month as a free download. The game was sponsored by the upcoming movie Act of Valor and required players to watch the movie’s trailer to unlock weapons.

The game was buggy from day one, with many reporting connection issues, buggy levels and glitchy controls.

“EA Mobile is committed to delivering mobile entertainment experiences that are on par with the content and quality users have come toexpect from their favorite EA gaming brands. To this end, we have decided to remove Battlefield 3: Aftershock from the App Store and are currently re-evaluating the app in response to the consumer feedback we’ve received. We thank all the fans who have downloaded the game to date.”

EA is promising a better, more up-to-the-mark Battlefield 3 game for smartphones later this year.
