The Most Romantic and Bro-mantic Couples in Video Games
Love, friendship and beyond.
5. Snake and Otacon (Metal Gear Solid)
They came together in the first Metal Gear Solid, and have since been inseparable. Also, because Otacon was Snake’s radio support and umm, he kinda needed that. Regardless, their on air communication brought them pretty close – at least close enough to discuss awkward things like love…and how to love…But this is a small part of why we chose them as the best bro-mantic couple. The main reason is because they have a secret friggin’ handsake.
4. Sonic and Tails (Sonic)
“We are Tails and Sonic, Sonic and Tails, Together, forever, we play our games, We are Tails and Sonic, On the winning way, ‘Cuz we’re friends for life, And together we stay!” ‘Nuf said.
3. Marcus and Dom (Gears of War)
Dom met Marcus in school, when he was a reluctant shy boy, seemingly incapable of handling the thorns of life. But then Marcus KO’ed a bully in school and the bro-respect flourished ever since. After Dom’s brother’s death, the two solidified their relationship beyond just “what’s up, bro”, fighting side by side in many epic battles, mending wounds and hearts, as they trudged the uncertain path against the Locust.
2. Ken and Ryu (Street Fighter)
Trained under martial arts master Sheng Lo…err..Gouken, those warriors formed one of gaming’s most iconic friendships, despite their drastically differing personalities, backgrounds,
fighting styles and gi color. Its hard to imagine any Street Fighter game with one, but not the other. And Ryu’s read headband, given to him by Ken, is a constant reminder of Ken’s superior fashion style (and also their loyalty to each other blah blah blah).
1. Heavy and Medic (Team Fortress 2)
Since the day Team Fortress 2 was released, the relationship between the Heavy and the Medic has transcended any friendship in recorded history. No partnership has been more essential to the survival of your team, more epic in the most desperate time of need, more rewarding and more devastating than the Heavy and Medic. Capable of overcoming all odds, you know shit is about to hit the fan when you see a Heavy jump into the battlefield with the Medic in tow, and the two start to glow.
