Call of Duty will see “meaningful innovation” this year, says Activision
Work on Elite 2.0 already underway.
The next Call of Duty has yet to be revealed, although rumors have been suggesting that it could be Black Ops 2, and frankly, we wouldn’t find a sequel to Treyarch’s Cold War zombie mash up-themed Call of Duty quite surprising given that it fetched big money to Activision – we’re talking smashing billion dollar money.
During an investor call yesterday, Activision surprised no one and said that 2012 will indeed bring to the gaming medium another Call of Duty game. The game, however, will according to Activision, see “meaningful innovation”.
“This year, we expect to further expand our presence with the launch of an all-new epic first-person shooter title under the Call of Duty brand,” said Hirshberg.”From what we’ve seen the game already looks fantastic and will bring meaningful innovation to the franchise. I could not be more excited.”
Elsewhere, addressing the juggernaut’s social networking app, Call of Duty Elite, he stated that Activision intends to keep its “foot on the gas”.
Naturally, Elite isn’t tied to Modern Warfare 3 or Black Ops, hence the service is bound to be carried over to future Call of Duty installments as well. “We’re already hard at work on Elite 2.0 with several innovative features being developed to work hand in hand with our next Call of Duty release,” said Hirshberg.
