Final Fantasy X HD for PS3 and Vita is a remaster not a remake
Still visuals promised to look much better than the original title.
The new version of Final Fantasy X caused confusion among fans when it was announced last year for PS3 and PS Vita, with speculations surrounding the HD release whether it’ll be summoned back in a different shape and perhaps remade from the ground up using the Final Fantasy XIII engine, or if it’s going to be another HD remaster.
Luckily, Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto was quizzed about the matter during an interview at the Taipei Game Show, confirming that the game is in fact more accurately defined as an HD remaster. “The game is being developed like a high-definition remaster, but the visuals will look much better compared to the original,” he said.
An HD remaster shouldn’t trouble fans originally anticipating a complete graphical overhaul of the game, bearing in mind that the raw Final Fantasy X still looks pretty even by today’s standards.
