A PlayStation Vita iteration of the legendary fighting title Mortal Kombat has been revealed. The game is being developed by NetherRealm Studios and is currently headed exclusively to Sony’s new console with a release schedule of spring 2012.

According to the presser, Mortal Kombat for PlayStation Vita is designed for “on-the-go gaming with brand new gameplay features and content developed exclusively for the new handheld device.”

“The NetherRealm team is committed to making sure that we follow up the success of 2011′s Mortal Kombat with an equally compelling experience on the PlayStation Vita,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. “The original game content and new features we developed for the PlayStation Vita will provide gamers with the best fighting game experience available on the new mobile platform.”

It’s pretty good to see Mortal Kombat going portable, especially after the successful reboot of the franchise, with 2011’s hit flogging more than three-million copies in sales. Mortal Kombat for PS Vita should alone strengthen the next-gen handheld’s position in the industry even further.

Other than his excessively biased enthusiasm toward gaming, and technology behind the whole industry, there's a huge fondness inside that drives him nuts to pick up his keyboard and start writing for the love of it.
