My reaction is

As I mentioned earlier, the sound quality on the HD 239 is superb, what with the fairly high frequency response of 16 – 23K Hz and an impedance of 32 Ohms. Such a high dynamic range allows the HD 239 to provide audio with not just crystal clarity, but easily discernible high pitches. Bass doesn’t sound overly loud, but the beats thump with obvious distinction. Mid-range notes and any vocals sound extremely natural, with not a hint of warmness to the tone. The HD 239 really is one of the best sounding headphones Sennheiser has.

Sadly all of those beautiful acoustics and comfort comes at a cost: external noise. The Sennheiser HD 239 headphones have an open transducer, which obviously means that at high volume the sound of your music is carried over to the immediate area surrounding you. At the risk of sounding selfish, that in itself isn’t really the issue. What’s happening here is that the large earpads are still a significant distance from your ear (about 1cm), resulting in external noise also filtering through to the ear. So if you’re in a public environment, expect to hear the general chatter around you as well. This is a most irritating effect when you’re riding public transport where the engine noise and announcement calls completely ruin the otherwise incredible audio experience you’re having.

So the best place to listen to the Sennheiser HD 239 is in private, or at least someplace where you won’t be disturbed by external noise. The sound itself is amazing as you’ll really enjoy the quality that’s pouring out of these headphones. Apart from that, the HD 239 is incredibly comfortable as well, meaning that you can enjoy your music for a long time. Yes, they may seem a tad bit pricey, but for this level of audio quality and comfort you’d be hard pressed to find anything from the competition.

Good: Great audio quality; Very comfortable and versatile earpads; Looks stylish
Bad: Carries over external noise; Cloth padding
Rating: 9/10

Decent Review, suffers from a lack of hardware comparisons and  you keep mentioning how pricey they are without actually giving a figure??
