GSC Game World, the team best known for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.  series, has been reportedly shut down.

While details of GSC’s closure are currently scarce to say the least, UkraNews is reporting that studio’s CEO Sergei Grigorovich informed his staff earlier today in a meeting that he had decided to shutter down the Ukrainian-based company, which boasts well over 40 employees.

Website RockPaperShotgun spotted a tweet of what it seems GSC denying the report, only to find it later on mysteriously erased from the company’s Twitter feed. In an attempt to squeeze more info, contacting the developer has met with the typical “Sorry no comment at this point”.

Developer GSC has been working on follow-up S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 for PC and consoles – if this report is to be taken genuinely, it means the upcoming 2012-set project could very well be sadly canned.

Other than his excessively biased enthusiasm toward gaming, and technology behind the whole industry, there's a huge fondness inside that drives him nuts to pick up his keyboard and start writing for the love of it.
