Xbox Companion app launched for WP7, iOS
You can now Xbox on your Xbox while you are Xbox’ing.
Shortly after the launch of the new Xbox 360 dashboard update, Microsoft has released a ‘Xbox Companion’ app for Windows Phone 7 and iOS devices.
For WP7 users, the app allows to search the unified Xbox catalog of movies, TV shows, music, games, and apps right from their smartphone. They can also use the app to view details about the content that is currently playing on their Xbox 360, track friend activity, and view achievements and related items.
One of the best features however, is that the app can work as a remote control for the Xbox 360, allowing users to play, pause, forward and rewind videos or music, and also navigate the menus.
Of course, the iOS app is lot less feature-rich. Users will only be allowed to read & send messages, manage friend list, edit their Xbox Live profile, and view and compare achievements.
The app is now available on both the WP7 Store and iOS App Store.
