New 3DS firmware is live, has achievements
It’s called Accomplishments.
The highly awaited, and slightly delayed, firmware for Nintendo 3DS is now finally live. The new firmware gives users 3D video recording capabilities and more hats to collect, and addresses one of the biggest publisher whines: the ability to sell DLCs.
Interestingly, the firmware also seem to introduce an achievements-like system called Accomplishments. As uncovered by GiantBomb, the Accomplishments, as of yet, is limited only to the StreetPass Mii Plaza and have zero point value.
Nintendo never drummed about Accomplishments prior to release of the firmware update, so it is rather surprising that they decided to just slip it in. It is unclear if the feature will spread across to games as well, although it seems likely.
