More such stats inside.
Speaking at the London Games Conference, Robin Burrowes of Xbox Live dropped stats highlighting the incredible growth the service has had since its launch in 2002.
Upto 50,000 users signed up for Xbox Live at launch, a figure which has now ballooned up to 35 million users by the end of 2010, up from 15 million from 20 million users in 2009. The service now gets one new user every two seconds.
“We know already that users are resonating with the fact that the games console goes beyond its usual remit,” he said.
According to Burrowes, 75% of European console users watch DVDs on their system, while 72% download content from the Marketplace.
He also said that 42% users also use the social networking services such as Facebook and Twitter available on the console, and also chat and email other users while watching content.
