My reaction is

Take a popular franchise like the Sims; add two letters and a whole bunch of colourful cartoonish characters and you have yourself a winner. At least that is what EA is hoping for. MySims Party, just like every other MySims title for both the Wii and DS, is a title created with the young gamers on mind. This time around EA is giving us a chance to create an avatar, pick our Sims and play a set of mini games against three of our friends. Party time!

Well not so much. After picking your avatar the game will then teleport you into a lobby of some kind. There you can check out the Sims city or walk around pointlessly until you find yourself a mini game house to get the party started. The mini games themselves are of a wide variety and offer both the young boys and girls a chance to compete.  Everything from kicking soccer balls in the air to collecting flowers is a competition here. The idea of having gender appealing mini games is actually a smart move (Soccer for the boys and flowers for the girls, if you were wondering).

Gameplay in each and every mini game is pretty simple. Button mashing like there is no tomorrow! Think of this game as a Mario Party DS, minus the plumber and fun board games of course. A few of these mini games might prove a bit of a challenge for the young ones, but once they get the hang of it (press the buttons faster!!) the whole experience will turn out to be a bit too easy.

Each group of mini games is called a festival. Here you will go head to head with your friends over a range of mini games together. The one with the most points in the end wins! One interesting concept in this game is that each Sims character has its own strengths and weakness. So choosing the right character for certain challenges might be a good idea. Adding some realism to the mix, your Sims will actually get tired over the festival, suffering a drop in performance on the way.

The developers of this game certainly made sure this game is as colourful as it gets. Everything from the streets to the characters is blindly colourful. The Sims themselves are adorable looking, with the big cute eyes and shiny colourful hair going for them as well. That will surely give the young gamers something to look at for a while. The sound effects and music are just about acceptable, with nothing too impressive here. The music runs in the background keeping the kids fresh and ready to party.

My Sims Party, as an overall experience, is pretty interesting. The kids will have a blast playing and competing with their friends for some time. A few more mini games wouldn’t have hurt, but the game features some attractive mini games to mess around with. This one is certainly not for the older gamers, who might lose interest right before the press start screen.
