Xbox 360 “mandatory” system update goes live
No new features, only maintenance update.
A new mandatory system update for Xbox 360 is now available for download, Xbox Live boss Major Nelson has revealed.
Don’t expect fancy new features – specifically the much-rumored Dashboard overhaul, which according to reports, it’s due out on 25 November.
“Sometime during the early morning hours tomorrow (Pacific Time, Tuesday, October 11th) we are pushing out a mandatory system update. If you are signed into LIVE already, you may be signed out. Once the update has been completed, you’ll be able to sign-in again and back online in a few moments,” he wrote.
“This is a general system maintenance update and there are no new features that will show up once your system has been updated.”
The next Xbox 360 update, which supposedly launches on November 25, will bring a significant facelift to the dashboard’s user interface, adds Bing search functionality, in addition to new entertainment services, which allow for streaming TV in the UK, North America and Europe, including channels from the likes of BBC, LoveFilm, Blinkbox and 4oD.
