PS Vita 3G downloads capped at 20MB
Requires Wi-Fi connectivity for full game purchases.
Sony has already disclosed two separate PlayStation Vita models; the cheaper one being Wi-Fi only, while the other model, which is pricier of course, ships ready with mobile 3G connectivity. Though, the company has just revealed that downloads across the 3G model will be limited to 20MB by file size.
The info comes from a Sony Japan rep, who confirmed the download limit figure to ASCII (via Andriasang), while noting that this might very well change at some point and thus allow for greater downloads.
A 20MB cap on 3G media downloads means that users won’t be able to purchase full retail games, of course, unless they’re either Minis or small firmware updates that don’t surpass the given limit.
Sony’s new handheld arrives to Japan on December 17, and early next year worldwide.
