Activision sold 18 million Black Ops map packs
And Black Ops managed more than 23 million copies.
Activision has revealed that its billion-dollar juggernaut shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops, has managed to shift an impressive 18 million of its DLC map packs as of now.
CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed the rather remarkable figure during an investor call held today in Los Angeles, exhibiting the growth of the Call of Duty franchise within every newer installment.
According to the revealed numbers, almost each Black Ops purchase was accompanied with at least an additional map pack, suggesting that the average number pinpoints to a $76 price tag within each copy sold – which is said to be just over 23 million units worldwide.
In comparison to previous outings, Treyarch’s previous CoD title, World at War, managed to move around 9 million map packs at $10, whereas Modern Warfare 2 sold over 11 million map packs over the same period with $15 spent on each download.
With Modern Warfare 3 arriving this November, expect new sales records to be utterly crushed.
