Rumor: New Xbox 360 update adds full stereoscopic 3D support
Incoming update will allow you to enable 3D for use “in games and experiences that support it.”
According to a report carried by msxbox-world, the next update for Microsoft’s home platform the Xbox 360 is mere days away from now. The new update will presumably enable the long-rumored feature the Xbox 360 has been lacking against its direct competitor the PlayStation 3 – that’s stereoscopic 3D.
The update should even out the competition and adds support to the neglected feature, allowing Xbox 360 users to finally harness the power of their 3D TV sets and enjoy the stereo effect within a range of 3D-enabled titles, including Batman: Arkham City, Gears of War 3 and Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary.
A snapshot passed by the site has an image of the dashboard with text that reads, “Enable 3D to use stereoscopic 3D in games and experiences that support it.”
Given that Gears of War 3 is mere weeks away from its release, rolling out this feature soon is definitely a good decision. As of now, we have to wait for an official word from the big guys at Microsoft.
