Sonic CD re-release announced by SEGA
Classic platformer speeding onto consoles, PC and mobiles.
Sega has revealed that its classic platformer Sonic CD will see a re-release as a downloadable title for PSN, XBLA, PC, iOS, Android and WP7.
Scheduled for this winter, the digital remastered edition will feature reformed graphics to apt the widescreen ratio, improved visuals, as well as Trophy/Achievement support and more. Sonic CD is said to include the original Japanese soundtrack.
“Ask any Sonic fan to name their favorite games, and Sonic CD always ranks near the top of their lists,” said Haruki Satomi, Vice President of Digital Business at Sega. ”Sonic CD marks an important chapter in Sonic’s history, bridging the gap between his oldest adventures and his new digital exploits like Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode I.”
“We’ve made sure the re-mastered edition has everything that Sonic fans want to see with all of the original colorful classic zones,” he added.
Sonic CD was originally released for the Sega Mega-CD back in 1993, and still hailed until this day as one of SEGA’s little blue mascot’s most memorable entries in the 20-year-old franchise.
