In Mass Effect 2, you could have your Shepard killed in the line of duty, but a triumph over the Reapers was always guaranteed. In Mass Effect 3, however, that won’t be the case, confirmed BioWare community representative Mike Gamble.
Speaking to NowGamer, Gamble said “Yes” twice when the site quizzed, and then in disbelief re-quizzed, if the game would allow the player to fail in the final mission against the enemies.
Of course, you can always reload and save the world, but it would be interesting to see how the story would unfold with the Reapers taking over the galaxy.
Mass Effect 3 is out March 6 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
