This week we were cordially invited by Playstation Middle East to attend an Iftar at Wild Peeta. If you don’t know what Wild Peeta is, you should know that you IP has been logged and you will be banned from this site in 4 minutes. Okay just kidding. Wild Peeta is the uber-cool fusion shawarma place next to Dubai World Trade Centre, and is a regular haunt for me (and is probably the only reason I ride the metro!). I sauntered through the doors this evening to be greeted by the familiar faces of fellow gamers and Tweeps. The venue was sporting a demo station for Resistance 3, as well as a very cool Uncharted 3 art piece inspired by the artwork at Wild Peeta. Not to mention Nathan Drake stickers on our servings of tea!

After tucking into our gracefully wrapped shawarmas, May El Husseiny and Lina Chaaban from Sony Playstation Middle East stepped forward to give us the scoop on what they had in store for us in the coming months. First off was an update on GAMES11 – this year it’s being held at The Dubai Mall Ice Rink, from Sept 22nd to 24th and promises to be even better than last year. There were around 50,000 attendees at GAMES10, and it’s going to be an easy task to surpass that this year. We will of course be bringing you all the coverage from the show, so make sure you check back with us and on the official GAMES11 website.

Now it’s evident that there’s plenty of build-up leading to the release of Uncharted 3, and Sony were eager to get our tongues wagging with an epic announcement known as Uncharted: Treasure Hunter. While I would love to sit and spill all of the glorious details, I’m going to wait a bit longer for a dedicated post, but all I can say is that if you ever thought you could pull off adventure the way Nathan Drake does, your chance will be coming up sooner than you think.

We wrapped up the evening with a quick lucky draw, where the winner would walk away with a canvas print of the Uncharted artwork that was hanging on the wall. The lucky winner was Khalid (@KhalidAKH) who quite happily showed off his trophy.

With GAMES11 around the corner and some great games being released in the months to come, it’s going to be a busy month for Sony, so make sure you watch this space for all the news and updates.

A special thank you to Sony Playstation Middle East for inviting us along! For a gallery of our Iftar antics, click here.

Sounds really nice… I hope they pull something off like this in Saudi Arabia for once; you don’t have to cancel the Dubai one, just make MULTIPLE conferences!
