Bungie Aerospace has unveiled its first offering in the form Crimson: Steam Pirates, a strategy title from indie developer Harebrained Scheme.

The iPad game will be free for the first eight levels, which depicts the “voyages that begin the tale of Thomas Blood’s adventures in the Caribean”. Chapter 2, ‘Tales of Captain Blood’ will cost $1.99, however.

The game will utilize some of Bungie.net’s tools, such as stats, leaderboards and  Facebook integration, and also feature two “pass-and-play multiplayer scenarios” and dozens of ships and submarines to play around with.

Crimson: Steam Pirates will be out on September 1.

And just in case you need a refreshing, Bungie Aerospace is a program to help out small indie teams with financial and marketing resources, and also allowing them to use Bungie.net community features.
