The number crunchers at Nielsen has released a series of lists revealing the most played PC titles, most played consoles, and the top games that players in the US are most looking forward to.

Unsurprisingly, the PC list is jammed with MMOs and online shooters, with World of Warcraft taking the top spot with a lion’s share of 6.304 over others. Following it are Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (1.821), League of Legends (1.581) and Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar (1.354).

On the consoles side of things, Xbox 360 topped the charts as the most played console in the US, leading the pack by a sizeable margin of 26.5 mins on average. Following it are Wii (21.8 avg mins) and Playstation 3 (20.5 avg mins).

Nielsen also polled survey participants on which game they are most looking forward to buy next. Modern Warfare 3 topped the list, while it’s arch rival Battlefield 3 came at no. 7. Following Modern Warfare 3 are Gears of War 3, Madden NFL 12 and Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Oh, and there is Zumba Fitness at no. 10 as well.
