EA to limit Star Wars: The Old Republic copies on launch
Both at retail and online.
EA has once again confirmed that it will be limiting the sale of Star Wars: The Old Republic, both at retail and digitally, so as to provide a smooth, glitch free experience at launch.
“We are limiting launch quantities of Star Wars: The Old Republic to ensure players have a smooth and high quality game experience and service at launch,” said a representative for both EA and BioWare.
“All versions of the game — physical and digital — are available for pre-order on a limited basis only. Once they are gone, they are gone.”
Once the pre-order limit is reached, EA will stop issuing game downloads until it can upgrade its servers to a satisfactory level. The company failed to mention for how long, however.
There is no firm release date on the game, but EA has thrown a Holiday launch time frame. Open Beta will kick in from September.
