Valve sets community challenge for early DLC access
Survive the Cold Stream.
If there is one thing that gamers are surely good at, it is accepting challenges no matter how mundane or maddeningly hard it is. Exploring that subconscious mentality is Valve, who have thrown up a challenge for Left 4 Dead 2 players to show how seriously they take their gaming…and free downloadable content.
The challenge: if 20,000 L4D2 players score the Stream Crosser achievement by the coming Sunday, Valve will release a map called Dead Air from the upcoming (and currently in beta) Cold Stream content pack ahead of schedule, on July 22. So what one must do to achieve the Stream Crosser? Simply just survive a single campaign in Cold Stream on any difficulty, that’s all.
Conveniently, Valve has also put Left 4 Dead 2 up for sale on Steam for $4.99, that’s a 75% cut from the $19.99 price tag.
