Crysis 2 DX11 screenshots in, high-res texture pack planned
New screens shows off tessellation, occlusion mapping, and various other visual improvements.
Crytek had faced a lot of heat over the exclusion of DX 11 from the PC version of Crysis 2 at launch. And although they have been promising a patch for it soon, and recently even re-confirmed its plans, today we have some solid proof that the patch is indeed coming.
A website called PlayerInside has published a few screenshots from the game with DX 11 turned on in all its glory. The screens are tiny, but aptly showcase the new visual features such as hardware tessellation, parallax occlusion mapping, SSR, etc.
Apparently, according to the site, a high-res texture pack is also in the works and will be available for DX 9 and DX 11. However, it will only run on 64bit operating systems and with graphics card with at least 1GB memory. There is a page on MyCrsis that would feature links to the patches and texture pack, however our attempt at accessing the site returned us a “connection failed” error.
There is no date on the DX 11 patch as of yet.
