Crysis 2 pulled from Steam, now listed as “only on Origin”
Game still available on other digital distribution outlets, however.
Crysis 2 is no longer available in the Steam store – the game has been apparently pulled by EA from Valve’s platform and listed on its official site as “only on Origin”, the publisher’s new digital distribution store.
While Crysis 2 is still available for purchase from other digital distribution outlets such as Impulse, Direct2Drive and Amazon, it’s unclear whether EA will remove the game from those stores as well. Perhaps EA is intentionally targeting Steam as their main competitor.
Still, as of now, there’s a batch of major EA titles available on Steam, such as Dragon Age II, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Shift 2: Unleashed. However, this week’s release of Alice: Madness Returns will be sold exclusively on Origin.
There’s no trace of EA’s future major releases like Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3, which raises the question of whether they’ll follow the fate of Crytek’s shooter.
