After four months of modest sales at best, Nintendo’s 3DS handheld has finally managed to cross the 1 million sales mark in Japan, according to Famitsu publisher Enterbrain.

The milestone was achieved in four months after release, with the handheld suffering average sales in the middle which saw the PSP overtaking in sales in the month of April and May.

To put it into perspective, the original DS managed to achieve the milestone in just one month, with DS Lite and DSi taking two months, and DSi XL taking six months.
