Update 2: An official update from Tristan Irons, Marketing & PR Manager, Red Distribution (distrubtors for Rockstar Games in the UAE): With respect to the recent information spreading through the digital forums and websites concerning L.A. Noire being BANNED in the UAE; I would like to clarify: this information is FALSE. We at Red Entertainment work directly with the NMC in the UAE and they will stipulate whether a title can be allowed to be distributed for sale in UAE.

Update: False alarm, news from Geekay Games is inaccurate, and the word is that the game is still under approval at NMC. We will update you with the official word from NMC as soon as we get it.

Original story:
After a week long trial at the NMC offices, news has come that L.A. Noire, Rockstar’s latest crime thriller, has been, unsurprisingly, banned in the region, according to local retailer Geekay Games.

Geekay Games updated their Facebook page with the dreaded news:

“Unfortunate news, L.A. Noire has been banned. Sorry guys.”

As usual, NMC has not issued an official statement as to why the game was banned, but we can safely assume that some parts of the “Blood and Gore, Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Use of Drugs, Violence” were to be blamed.

L.A. Noire joins Dragon Age 2 in this year’s banned games list. There is more to come as well; word on The Witcher 2 is mum, and next month’s release, Duke Nukem Forever, is expected to meet the same fate as well. And shockingly, this time around, even Duke can’t do much about that.

I wouldn’t follow Geekay for this type of info, it is an absolute farce.

The game’s official distributor is Red Entertainment and not Geekay. Why don’t we have input and update from them on the status? Don’t see any quotes from them!!

Mr. Mufaddal Fakhruddin- Perhaps you should apply those “ridiculously high standards” you claim to have towards your research.L.A Noire Not banned . YAY ! You have found a way to redeem yourself  :) Well done.

We were reacting to information available, at that point in time. We never intended to spread misinformation. Now that an official update has been posted by Tristan Irons, Marketing & PR Manager, Red Distribution (distributors for Rockstar Games in the UAE), we are delighted that the game may not be banned and look forward to receive them from Red Distribution, U.A.E.

Reacting to information avaliable???? Did someone beg you to make a post of your site about wether the title was banned or not? a few hours after your original post you posted again saying, dont worry we are trying to get the game passed, you make it seem like Geekay is getting the game passed at the NMC and that Geekay is the the best/most reliable source of information on this title.

Now it turns out the official distributor is obviously not happy with you and you have mislead people and created a PR nightmare and extra work for them.

Companies that have facebook pages have the responsibility of making sure that they only post news/information that they are absolutely sure about this is their responsibility to their consumers.

Very poor standards from both Geekay and megamers……

I don’t understand one thing…the game was supposed to release on 17th May…& still it is not known if the game is going to release or be banned. And how much time does it take to get something approved or rejected, I guess not more than a day.

Why the game to not contain a copy of the Arabic language

  • Guest

Is a very difficult game with the English language because we do not speak English
