Nintendo confirmed today that its latest handheld, the 3DS, has sold about 3.61 million units since its launch last month.

The company had internal predictions set at 4 million units, however despite that, they are calling it as “smooth start” for the handheld.

Nintendo also said that it has shifted 9.43 million 3DS games in the month since launch, suggesting a high attach rate for the system.

Earlier today, the Japanese electronic giant had confirmed that it will be showing a new home console at E3 this year. Dubbed as Project Cafe, the console will rumoredly feature a controller with built-in screen, powerful CPU and GPU processors, and full stereoscopic 3D.
