Nintendo Project Cafe controller and console design leaked
Wii 2′s controllers can ‘stream’ part of an 1080p image onto its screens.
The rumor mill has new beans to churn and it’s been abuzz of late with Project Cafe, Nintendo’s purported step in high-definition home console gaming.
Today, a user at NeoGaf posted images of what appears to be the proposed design of Project Cafe’s/Wii 2′s console and controller design. The controller, rumoredly fitted with a 6″ display, is powered by something called ‘Screen Stream’ that “takes the 1080p image and pushes each rendered quarter to the player’s person screen.” So if you are partaking in a four-player multiplayer game, the screen would show you your slice of the 1080p image on the controller’s screen, while the TV can be either switched off or made to show different angles that could help strategize the next move. Other uses of the screen would be in genres like RPG, were the game’s main menus, like for spells, inventory, skill tree, etc., can be shown directly on the controller’s screen without requiring the players to pause the game.
Wii 2 is rumored to be priced at $350-400, and will offer faster CPU and GPU performance than the Xbox 360, full stereoscopic 3D and of course, the promise of 1080p resolution.
