Sennheiser HD 800 Headphones Review
Throughout my life I have had experiences with a wide range of headphones and earphones. Many were average or above that, but some were truly outstanding; most of these were recommendations from friends or trusted sources. And I know that word of mouth and actually experiencing audio equipment is far more impactful than reading a review, but my job is to help you in the right direction. So consider this review as friendly advice.
We’ve had a couple of Sennheiser headphone reviews in the past where the products are usually dropped off at our office to be tested. So when I was invited for a live demonstration session at the “Dubai Audio Center” for Sennheiser’s flagship headphones, I knew I was in for a treat.
Sennheiser is one of the first names that comes to mind if you’re an audiophile and are looking to buy some new equipment. So for them to say that the HD 800 headphones are “crafted for perfection” is like Bugatti saying the Veyron is an automotive engineering marvel.
Just on the outside the Sennheiser HD 800 headphones look like nothing you’ve seen before. To many it may not look “amazing”; indeed it can be taken at face value and may seem something too technical, like an unfinished prototype. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and the HD 800 is designed to be functional while flaunting expensive materials for others to appreciate.
Each pair of Sennheiser HD 800 is assembled by hand; such delicate work cannot be left up to cold, lifeless machines. The ear pads are made of handcrafted microfiber fabric for extreme comfort; the hard as titanium “Leona” plastic holds all the components tightly and the stainless steel mesh grill forms the perfect base from which the sound flows.
As with every high-end audio equipment, you need to have an equally capable set of partner accessories that will complement it, thereby providing a complete quality experience. In the case of the Sennheiser HD 800, Dubai Audio Center recommended that I pair it up with the Schiit Valhalla headphones amplifier. Review for this little beast is now online.
