With the frenzy of Day 1 behind us, we headed back down to Geekay Games at The Dubai Mall for Day 2 of the Marvel vs Capcom 3 Challenge. There was already a crowd forming both inside and outside the store, as the 16 qualifiers honed their skills over some practice matches. But once the tournament actually began, the action reached a frenzied pace. Gamers hit 50+ hit combos with ease, and rounds were finished in mere minutes. The girls from Red Bull were once again on hand giving out energy drinks to keep the gamers’ spirits up through the rounds. We even had a surprise appearance from Ryu, once again courtesy of the Dubai Anime Club.

But in the end the 16 participants were whittled down to the final four, and as tensions rose so did the stakes. The final two contestants then took their place for the final match, and were watched by crowds of gamers eager to pick up some signature moves from the professionals. We managed to grab the final two rounds, so sit back and enjoy the final battle of the Geekay Games Marvel vs Capcom 3 challenge:

After the magnificent final round, the winners were announced:

Fourth place went to Maynard Lantican who won a limited edition Marvel vs Capcom 3 T-shirt

In third place was Mohammad Al Zarooni who won a HORI Licensed Wireless Arcade Joystick and a copy of the game

Second place was Hamed Nasser who won a HORI Licensed Wireless Arcade Joystick, a copy of the game, and a Marvel vs Capcom 3 t-shirt

The champion Prateek Shekhar, who walked away with a AED 2,000 cash prize along with a HORI Licensed Wireless Arcade Joystick, a copy of the game, and a Marvel vs Capcom 3 t-shirt. Prateek will also have his photo displayed in all Geekay outlets for one month, so that everyone learns of his spectacular victory.

Special thanks to Geekay Games for organizing this event, and a huge thank you to all of the gamers who turned up for the tournament.
