Speedball 2 Evolution for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch will arrive to the App Store on February 24 Tower Studios, and Vivid Games have announced.

Evolution is a remake of the classical Speedball games. Developed by Vivid Games, under the guidance of Tower Studio’s Jon Hare – Sensible Software designer.

Speedball 2 has a new art style and an option of touchscreen joypad controls, and a new tilt-to-move scheme control. The game also allows for local multiplayer play via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

“Fans who have been yearning for a modern incarnation of Speedball have only a week longer to wait,” says Jon Hare, the game’s creative director. “But as well as allowing the millions of existing fans to welcome home an old friend, we will also be introducing Speedball to a whole new generation. The game remains as playable as the day it was first launched – and with this being the definitive version for many, many years, we hope it proves itself to be the most popular.”

Speedball 2 includes Game Center support, features 22 achievements and Retina display support for iPhone 4. Price is still TBC.

Other than his excessively biased enthusiasm toward gaming, and technology behind the whole industry, there's a huge fondness inside that drives him nuts to pick up his keyboard and start writing for the love of it.
