PSP 2 announced, it’s called ‘Next Generation Portable” btw
Rumors stand true – will have OLED screen, rear trackpad, and PS3-like quality; first images.
After months of rumors, slips and leaks, Sony finally outs its new-gen handheld console. At the Sony event today, the company unveiled “Next Generation Portable”, or ‘NGP’ the company hopes it will be lovingly called.
As previously rumored, the device will have a 5-inch OLED screen, dual thumbsticks, SixAxis controls,dual cameras, front and rear touchpads, electronic compass, 3G, WiFi and GPS.
Sony showcased games like Uncharted, LBP, WipEout, Resistance, MGS 4, Yakuza 4, Broken, Reality Fighters and more, claiming that the device is capable of producing PS3-like graphics.
Sony also demonstrated the system’s new user interface called LiveArea, which it says will be user-friendly, touch-based, and features a feed that shows what your friends are playing. The device can also sniff around nearby area to find NGP players and see what they are playing with the help of an application called ‘Near’.
No pricing plans were mentioned, though Sony said the new handheld will ship later this year.
