My reaction is

We all know laptop mouse pad suck. It’s the universal truth. Even after years of innovation that saw changes in size, power, performance and technology, one thing remain constant: sucky mouse pads. So, for the on-the-go suit-boot business-go types that we pretend to be, along with a reliable laptop that doesn’t burn our pants off, an essential accessories that we tag along is the mouse. If you aren’t the gamer types, a small, compact, affordable, and preferably wireless mouse is what we are usually looking for.

While most such laptop mices are terrible with their extremely uncomfortable designs, Logitech’s latest offering, the Logitech M305, is a simple, stylish, and most importantly, an ergonomic mouse that at least does not make you want to throw it right across at the window.

The M305 comes in seven colors and patterns, and we got a glittering blue one with white circles scribbled on its surface. Though it’s not a color that I would fancy getting caught using, it’s a stylish design nonetheless. The contoured rubber grips on its sides coupled with smooth, grooved plastic buttons make it a comfortable navigator, as well.

The belly can be popped open to reveal a battery and the receiver container. The mouse uses one AAA battery that Logitech promises will last you as long as a month. Though we cannot dispute that, usually such terms are exaggerated so except slightly lower than promised.

As I said before, the Logitech M305 is a simple mouse. It has no fancy DPI changers or side buttons, which could be a deal breaker for some. The included SetPoint software allows to change the sensitivity and orientation for left or right hand users but that’s about it.

In our test, we used the mouse on a number of surfaces, such as wood, jeans, arm, glass, plastic, cardboard box, etc., and the mouse rarely faltered. Though of course, some surfaces provided better tracking, the overall performance remained acceptable and mostly reliable.

Logitech M305 is a great companion to your laptop, offering good looks, decent battery life and reliable tracking. However, it’s could be too simple for some users but if you are looking for no frills, competent mouse device, for $20 this one is not a bad choice.

Love: comfortable, stylish, receiver container within mouse, good tracking on most surfaces
Hate: no side buttons

Rating: 7.5/10
