Guillermo del Toro’s THQ game getting revealed next month
The gaming equivalent of Pan’s Labyrinth?
THQ’s Danny Bilson has said that the title which famed film director Guillermo del Toro is currently working on with the publisher will get its formal reveal at next month’s Spike VGA awards.
“He’s a gamer who wants to make a great game and has very interesting points of view and is partnered very closely with myself and my writing partner, Paul,” said Bilson, head of THQ’s core games division, during his IGDA Leadership Forum keynote.
He added that THQ “will be announcing the game title and the studio and all of that on the VGA awards in about a month.”
del Toro confirmed his involvement in a new project with THQ to MTV Multiplayer, back in September.
“With THQ we’re looking at around a three year developing deadline for each game. Big games. More details forthcoming, but we are truly exploring them in a serious manner. Expect the first game, best case scenario, 2013,” he said.
“It’s horror…but it’s a very different type of horror game. It’s not survival horror. It’s truly a strange, geeky mix. It’s a Lovecraftian thing. Let’s leave it at that.”
