Here is one award that deserves its acceptant. Tim Schafer is to be honored by a life achievement award for his legendary contribution in video games at the IndieCade Awards, a part of the International Festival of Independent Games.

Schafer, the man behind titles such as The Secret of Monkey Island, Pychonauts and Brutal Legend, was chosen for his “risk-taking, boundary pushing spirit at the heart of the independent gaming community.”

The award will be presented by his long time friend Rob Gilbert at the festival, which takes place on October 8-10, 2010 in Culver City California.

Schafer’s Double Fine is currently working on Costume Quest due out next month for PSN, XBLA.
